To start with the conclusion, it is possible. However, there are conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuan Chau Port is the official departure hub for Halong Bay cruises. Located approximately 165 km from Hanoi by car (a 3.5-hour drive on regular roads), it is the starting point for over 801 TPTs of the currently operating Halong Bay cruises. Local reservation desks for various cruise companies are operational within the port, and if cabins are available on the day of departure, passengers can book on-site and board immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem lies in those \u201cconditions.\u201d During the off-season (November to March), there are quite a few empty spots at the docks. Cruise companies often agree to local bargaining to fill their spots, and if the departure times align, same-day boarding is not difficult. For the Golden Week holidays from late April to early May, and the weekends around Chuseok, most popular cruises are already sold out online two to four weeks in advance.
